**CATCH REPORT** Junior Team Members Sam Beswick and Tom Batchelor have been out and hauling again. Check out their catch report to see how they got on, Sam and I have just returned from a 48hr session at Tarn pond with some great success. I arrived early in the morning to find the swim that I wanted free so after setting up my gear in the swim I went about baiting up and decided to fish one rod down my right margin and one in open water. Each rod was fished other 15 boilies of 14mm Crave and the plan was to top up after every cast/fish. With Sam arriving later on in the afternoon I fished with another friend for the day until Sam arrived. After a few hours with little action across the lake I decided to recast my open water rod and change my hook bait. I kept with a 14mm Crave boilie but I decided to tip it off with a trimmed down yellow dumbell. Not long after that cast my friend’s rod in open water let off a one toner and after a great fight a large mirror was in the net weighing 19lb 4oz. It was his biggest from the lake and he was delighted to say the least. By the time Sam had managed to get his rods out it was 8:00pm and the weather was looking good for a bite or two. Sam placed one of his rods down the left margin off a fallen tree and the other into open water. At around 10:30 in the pitch black my alarm gave off a couple of bleeps and my bobbin was at the top of my alarm but was fluttering up and down slightly. My instincts told me it was a bream and I cursed as it had got me up out of my bed chair however when I lifted it into it I was surprised to feel a large weight on the end. It was swimming towards me for the initial part of the fight so I still wasnt sure what it was but at the net it tore off for another 10 minutes and both Sam and I were left clueless to what it could be a cat or carp. However at the net the culprit was a lean mirror carp one of the priories stocked into the lake weighing 13lb on the dot. I was delighted as it was the best looking fish I had caught from Tarn. The next day it was Sams turn for one as at midday a single Crave and pink pop up cast out in open water, it had only taken 30 seconds before a carp picked up the bait and after a spirited fight a 15lb 14oz mirror was in the net. A few hours later in the evening his margin rod went and another mirror weighing 13lb 4oz had fallen to the same tactics as the last one- Crave and a pink pop up. As Sam and I began to have dinner consisting of bacon and burgers my rod in open water was away and my meal was put on hold as I played what felt like a bigger fish and looked like quite an old one however just as we slipped the net under it Sams rod in open water let out a one toner and he was in again, it soon became apparent that this was a very big fish and after a long fight a large simmo rolled into the net, two fish in the nets at the same time! After weighing the fish, Sam’s weighed 21lb 1oz a new tarn PB and mine weighed 17lb 4oz after a few photographs both fish were released immediately. We then went back to eating our food and happy that the Crave was really working! At 11:30 we were woken up by Sams margin rod as a carp picked up his Crave and fake yellow corn combo fished over a bed of boilies, pellet and squabs this fish was a little smaller than the rest and weighed 9lb 2oz. In the morning I continued to stick with crave however Sam chose to switch to 18mm Jungle as our crave stocks were dwindling. After introducing some freebies his single 18mm topped with a Crave fluoro pop up was away and after a great fight another mirror was nailed this time weighing 11lb 7oz. By constant introduction of the Pallatrax bait we managed to snare some great fish it just goes to show what a great short and long term attraction Crave and Jungle have.
