I live in New Delhi, if you happen to come to this side you are welcome to meet me. Regards ! PRAN This was the reply to the one and only fan mail i ever wrote in my life. The man who replied generously is the man behind the famous Chacha Chaudhary comics - Pran. It was 2009, when i wrote him to thank for being a major influence in childhood that later shaped my path to some extent. I had five long years to meet him. I could not make it. Today he is no more. No philosophy, no religion, no organization, no author has influenced me as much as did his works. His comics were much more than just fun. Of course the eternal fight between good and bad was a common thread in many of his stories..but at the same time the solutions to various problems were all build upon innovation, unity, planning , friendships and of course tailored according to the actual situations. His background of political science with training in fine arts placed him at a position where he used his art to talk of a better society by placing the individuals action at the core of change. The combination of intellect and physical power in the characters of Chacha Chaudhary And Sabu was a very practical mix of violence and non violence.The astrix * leading to Chacha chaudhry ka dimaag computer se bhe tez chalta hai..., Sabu Jupitar grah ka vaasi hai ..., Raaket Chacha chaudhrey ke kuttey ka naam hai , Jabb saabu ko gussa aata hai toh kahi jwalamukhi fatta hai. and expressions like.. Dhain Dhain for gunshots, gurr gurr for the angry dog etc are somethings that can hardly be forgotten by anyone who has eagerly waited for the next edition of his comics every few weeks in late 80s. We never saw BILLU directly in his eyes due to his frilly hairstyle.. (may be once he got them chopped) but we still connected well with him and remained with him in his adevntures..in his victory and in his loss. PINKI.. the ever mischievous girl with a wide ribbon glimpsing through her signature bob cut..was an eternal announcement of impending unfolding of drama..and ofcourse.. Raman, khalifa et al...were so close to life with its moments of little troubles and happyness. Your name Pran - the life, says it all.. Diamond(s) comics are for ever ! You will always be among us..and you will live through your characters..and through the influence you had on many of us. You meant a lot, Personally. R.I.P.
