#CLA2014 #InvestinOthers Community Service Award Finalist Profile: Bill Pearson Bill Pearson has been an active member of the Autism Society of Alabamas Board of Directors since 2008 and its Past President. The Autism Society of Alabama (ASA) supports families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by providing camps, conferences, seminars, information and advocacy. Mr. Pearson planned, organized and executed a campaign to secure the Alabama Department of Revenue specialty car tag for Autism Awareness. Due in large part to his persistence, the ASA far surpassed the 1,000 commitments statewide required for production of the tag, creating substantial revenue and awareness for ASA. Mr. Pearson also worked tirelessly with ASA staff, Board members and advocates to secure legislation improving private insurance coverage for Autism Spectrum therapies. As a result, the Riley Ward Autism Insurance Act of 2012 has improved private insurance coverage for ASD, greatly reducing the financial burden for tens of thousands of Alabama families affected by ASD. Mr. Pearson also coordinates the Morgan Stanley Walk for Autism team, which this year was recognized as the largest Walk for Autism team in Alabama.
