*CLICK HD BUTTON* A short documentary I made on Red Weaver Ants (Oecophylla smaragdina) and arthropods that are closely associated with them. Some have evolved to look and behave just like these ants in every way possible. I have always been fascinated with mimickry in the insect kingdom and so armed with an idea, a video recorder and some makeshift lighting equipments, we ventured foolishly into the mangrove swamp. It was much harder that I had expected – We had everything going against us that night; Uncooperative equipments, ‘Commando-trained’ mosquitoes, and worst of all, no mimics showed up during the first 3 hours we were there. Finally after surveying about a dozen nest that we stumbled upon our first mimic – a tiny Oecophylla smaragdina (crab spider). It was not long before we found another mimic - Homodes bracteigutta ( Erebid Moth Caterpillar). Hope you guys enjoy this just as much as we did making this. PS: Thank You, Manoj Kumar, for helping me with the lighting!
