Calling an individual or a group evil is what you do to make yourself feel better as you prepare to hurt or kill them. Its okay, you tell yourself, you havent really hurt or killed a living breathing human being - you have killed something evil, a monster, a demon that deserved to die. Once you dehumanise someone, reduce their aliveness to a word or image, they become easier prey. It is all a way to spare yourself pain, close off your heart in fear. Think twice before you use the word evil, friends. Realise the deep implications of using a word dripping with the blood of millions. Dont become part of the cycle of violence. Wake up from the illusion of separation. Wake up to connection.
