#CampusSoS Day 5. :) God reminded me of His sovereignty - TopicsExpress

#CampusSoS Day 5. :) God reminded me of His sovereignty yesterday during our sharing time. Hubert Yao accompanied me and we went to the Sunken Garden for about an hour of witnessing. I approached a student near the College of Law. He was sitting under one of the acacia trees looking a bit sad. When I asked if I could talk to him about Jesus and the Gospel, he agreed. What struck me about this conversation came at the very end. After sharing about Gods lovingkindess in sending Jesus as our substitute on the cross, I asked him what he thought about the message. He began by saying, You know, I am in a depression right now. I just called my parents to tell them I dont feel okay. Were going to see a psychologist soon. At those words, I realized how God looks out for people even for those who have not yet put their faith in Jesus. I never knew that he was depressed. I just happenned to be sharing that day and I chanced upon him at Sunken. He continued, I just came from church. I dont know if God is still listening to me with all the things that happened in my life... At that I shared to him parts of the testimony of Ravi Zacharias, when he lost the will to live and tried to commit suicide. While Ravi was lying on the hospital bed, a local Christian worker came and asked his mother to read John 14 aloud. Ravi was struck by Jesuss words in v. 19 where He said, Because I live you also will live. At this, he prayed to Jesus saying, Jesus if You are the one who gives life as it is meant to be, I want it. Please get me out of this hospital bed well, and I promise I will leave no stone unturned in my pursuit of truth. I encouraged the student to not be afraid to try God, to pray like how Ravi prayed, asking Him to be evident in his life. I told him that even if he felt that God did not care, His Word tells us that He does. I told him to look to Jesus because in Him is the fullness and satisfaction of life. He thanked me after our conversation and said he needed to hear the words that he heard. At one point he even said that he felt that God sent me as a response to his prayers. Perhaps God did. No. I believe God did. Before we parted, I asked if I could pray for him. I asked God to help him out of his challenging situation, to make him see what He wanted for his life and to allow him to encounter Jesus in a very personal way. I pray that in this season of his life, God will allow him to find ultimate meaning in Jesus. I thought Gods surprise ended there. However, when I went and talked to Hubert after he shared with another person, he told me that the student is one of his roommates at their boarding house! They were just acquaintances, however, and he did not know that he was going through depression. I told him not to let the opportunity to serve slip away. God placed him at their boarding house and He allowed me to share with his roommate, so God must be telling us the obvious. Please pray for Hubert as he ministers to his roommate. May God help him to make Jesus love more evident, and may God open his roommmates eyes to see it. :) God is truly at work! God bless :) Join us at #CampusSoS
