....Carnival says the new system will offer smoother connections and the ability to engage in bandwidth-intensive activities like streaming video (CNN.) Just a joke right off the bat, this could really potentially backfire for them; given all the problems at sea they have had over the past few years such as; clogged toilets/backed-up plumbing, engine failure/ships adrift and lets not forget; fire. The problem with Carnival at the moment is baseline logistics. Much of the fleet was purchased/comissioned some time ago and were in fact state-of -the-art at the time with the ability to be upgraded during their service. In the last thirty years or so, I am unsure what additions have been made to the fleet, but a few I know for sure, were futured. These ships should indeed be brandy-new much how the company proceeded forward during its debut. The 300 million dollars they invested in improvements should go over nicely, adding basic/luxury amenities, fixing long-standing wear-and-tear through such scheduled modernization and maintenance, as they are quite on the move almost all the time; they do a considerable amount of business; with 99% of those voyages ending successfully and with no issues whatsoever. There was absolutely no question of these cruiseliners sea worthiness or capabilities at the time of this companys launch or in the past three decades. So in closing, the ability to engage in bandwidth-intensive activities like streaming video could potentially backfire as guests with their smart phones could become iReporters and add to the band-wagon of negative press at the moment. But hey, at least its not a Chinese company, where such internet really would be censored. Just a very infinitesimal Pause for Thought...
