Richard Simmons was visited by police at his home on Friday night, claims a new report. The 66-year-old has not been seen in over a year and TMZ is reporting that Los Angeles Police did a welfare check on the fitness guru at his Hollywood Hills home. The law enforcement visit comes after a friend allegedly sent an email to the LA County DAs office with an elder abuse claim. The friend reportedly sent the letter to the Elder Abuse Unit with the concern that Simmons was being abused. Law enforcement sources told the gossip website that police found Simmons in good health but did appear to have a slight limp, which is consistent with reports that he is depressed after suffering a knee injury. Simmons also reportedly had a full beard as he allowed officers into his home for a chat. He told the officers on the scene, according to TMZ, that he was exhausted and that he just wanted to “spend time with myself.” When cops asked about his gym in LA, which he has not been to in a year, he said: “Ive got people who run things. I dont need to be there.” In November, his longtime spokesman Thomas Estey said Simmons was sad over the serious injury to his knee. Estey shot down claims that Simmons had become a recluse in his Hollywood Hills mansion and was depressed over his poor health and recent death of his beloved Dalmatian, Hattie. Friends have disputed the comments and told TMZ they have not had contact with Simmons since March. She is a two-time Oscar-winning actress. But Dianne Wiest is reportedly struggling to find enough work to afford her New York City apartment. Speaking to the New York Times, the 66-year-old explained how she finds it difficult to earn enough film and television roles to pay the rent on her home, believed to be in Manhattans West 79th Street. “I have to move out of my apartment soon,” she admitted. A two-bed apartment at the actresss supposed apartment complex is currently advertised online at a rental price of $5,300 per month. Wiest also revealed she never attempts to re-invent herself for a role. Instead, she leaves it to fate. “I think that if it’s meant to happen, it will happen - which is I guess a real sign of stupidity,” said Wiest, who has two adopted daughters, Emily and Lily, who are both now in their twenties. #mandyintheam #947KUMU
