“Child Rescued From Stuck Elevator” On Monday, May 12, 2014, at approximately 9:12 pm, Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue crews received a call in reference to a child stuck in an elevator at the Lee Shores Apartments located on Shore Place NW in Silverdale. Crews arrived to find a ten year old girl trapped in the elevator between the second and third floors. The girl stated that the elevator doors opened several times while the elevator was going up and then became stuck. The elevator door couldnt be forced open because it was partially off the rollers. Power was secured and the elevator key was used to open the outer doors on the fourth floor. Firefighters then used a ladder to climb down to the top of the elevator and open the emergency hatch. The child was assisted out of the top with the use of a harness attached to a belay line. She was uninjured but scared, and was reunited with her family upon exit from the elevator shaft. The elevator was shut down and marked with fire line tape on all floors.
