“Children are a heritage from the Lord” (Psalm 127:3) One of the most precious gifts any of us could ever receive is God’s love in the form of a little child, so sweet and beautiful. They’re all His children, really, but He entrusts them to our care and wants us to love and train them. They’re a gift of God but, like flowers in our garden, we’ve got to take care of them. It’s a case of God’s gift is also God’s work. If we “train up a child in the way he should go … when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). If you will only teach, train, and lead your children right and set the right example, they will carry that all through life. “All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children” (Isaiah 54:13). Another wonderful thing about your children is that you’re going to have them forever. If you rear them right and do a good job of God’s work with God’s gift, you will be so thankful when you get to Heaven and see them rewarded for their love for Him and all they did for Him and others—and you will share in their rewards because you helped guide them there. — Psalm 139:13-16 ESV - For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. John 16:21 ESV - When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. James 1:17 ESV - Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
