Children in the child welfare system are often moved from placement to placement during their time in care. Studies now show that these multiple placements can be even more harmful because they put the children at a greater risk of identity theft. They come into contact with so many group homes and social workers, relatives and foster parents, theres no shortage of opportunities for people to steal their identities, says Sam Cobbs, Director of First Place for Youth. CASA volunteers work to protect the children they serve by moving them through the system and into permanent, loving homes as quickly as possible.
