Collect the oil revenues, and dont dabble into the workings of the oil industry Chima Isilebo warns Gov. Amaechi It has become a concern to many that Gov. Amaechi is usually unsettled each time he grants an interview in the company of the state commissioner for information; Ibim Seminitari. Now, lets take a critical look at some issues raised by the governor in his radio interview on 92.3FM. The governor asked Rivers people to vote out President Jonathan, because in his opinion, the President hates Rivers people and has refused to pay back over N105 billion naira he ( Amaechi) spent to construct federal roads. This is a response from the procurement director- federal ministry of works Engr. Samson Ameh. I listened to the governor, and what he didnt tell us was that the federal government said the cost of the roads were inflated. And the governor didnt get the approval for the roads from the federal ministry of works before he started construction. Gov. Amaechi is not the only one that constructed federal roads, other governors did, followed due process and have all been reimbursed. In Rivers state we valued all federal roads constructed by governor Amaechi at N53.2 billon naira as against the governors claim of over N100 billion naira. And the governor has refused to accept this figure. And that is why the monies have not been paid back. The day Amaechi accepts this figure we will remit same day to Rivers treasury. And Im happy that the governor mentioned in his interview that Rivers state hadnt a procurement law as at the time he constructed the federal roads. Now, how do you expect a responsible government under the watch of a prudent Jonathan to pay you the acclaimed cost of a road that didnt follow due process? Let him accept and we will pay On the issue of Train 7- Bonny, Brass NLNG and 10,000 workers. Gov. Amaechi said President Jonathan told him that Brass LNG has been his fantasy. And as President he must see to its completion. He also said that Train 7 in Bonny would have provided jobs for 10,000 persons but was stalled by President Jonathan. Please hear the production manager of NLNG ;Mr. Chima Isilebos response. I think the governor should pay attention to governance. And shouldnt dabble into things that he has no knowledge of. The NLNG is in the business of gas export. The feedstock for the Trains is gas. If there is no gas then the Trains are useless. Nigeria has enormous gas reserves but yet untapped. So before you construct any Train for liquefaction, you should first secure a buyer, gather gas then construct Train. Therefore, what is important to us in NLNG Bonny is gas gathering. And thats what is going on in Gbaran Ubie. SPDC as a major shareholder of NLNG is doing that presently and they are about to begin the second phase. Do you know that after we finished constructing Train 6, it took us nearly two years to provide gas for the train. So for two years Train 6 was not producing because of inadequate gas supply. And again what is more important to Nigerians is power. So the federal government is also trying to draw a balance between gas for export and gas for power and cooking. The federal government cannot be pursing huge gas revenues while the people suffer frequent power outage . So let me state emphatically that President Jonathan did not in any way stall Train 7. Even the shareholders of NLNG; SPDC, Total, ENI, and NNPC have not signed the Final Investment Decision (FID) for Train7. Is that also President Jonathans fault? If I may ask the governor, what is the status of Brass LNG? FID for Brass LNG is not signed yet for nearly 13 years. In fact one of the stakeholders, ConocoPhillips just pulled out of the project. So train 7 has even made more progress than Brass LNG. Rivers people be wise Gov. Amaechi is only interested in the huge revenues he collects from NLNG. #SayNoToAPC #SupportPGEJ2015 #SupportNEW4Gov.
