Background: Tamils are people originated from India and Sri Lanka who has distinct identity with great language, their religions, their separate culture and heritage, dispersed or scattered in various parts of the world but holds distinct territory with the history of independent existence as a separate nation within India and Sri Lanka. This phenomenon, which continued over centuries on a small scale, has of late resulted in mass migration with a common identity on a global level. Today, the Tamil Diaspora can be found in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Middle East, Reunion Island, South Africa, Mauritius, Seychelles, Fiji, Guyana, Myanmar, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, the French West Indies, Europe, Australia, Canada, and the United States of America. This makes today around 100 million Tamils as a Diaspora. The colonial period, has led to a disintegration of a Nation without any identity, which means the destruction of the Tamil language and Culture. Language and culture are two facets of the same identity. Language is a major cultural element, culture is everything which is socially learned and shared by all the members of a society. A true example is what the world saw in 2009 in Sri Lanka, where nearly 70,000 people were killed during the last phase of the war and still 146,679 people are still uncounted. Today we are in a period where the rights of the Tamils, their identities, the language and the Culture should be protected. It’s also part of defending humanity and history.
