#Contradictions #QuestionOfIntegrity I got handed a biz card for another REALLLY overweight politician. Though I liked many of their ideas, I couldnt help but wonder: if you cannot make YOUR OWN health a priority, how can you make the health of a community a priority? If you cannot manage your own resources and days to create (then stick to) healthy boundaries for yourself, how can you do it for others? Many dis-eases are preventable (and expensive to taxpayers and the environment treat!) so if you cannot see those connections, what other connections will you not see??? Please note: About 3 years ago, when I was getting ready to leave an unfulfilling relationship, I listened to a trusted friend who said (very carefully, lol), You are important to me. Maybe get back in shape so you can start to move forward in a good way again. I knew there would never be a perfect time to leave, but I sucked in my breath, & acknowledged that it is was time to take better care of myself, not the others and issues around me. I am not saying Im better than anyone, but I simply saved more energy for myself & followed common sense... started eating smaller, fresher, healthier & more regular meals; drinking a lot less booze or fatty drinks; made space to do an hour of hard physical work - at a gym or home - almost every day... Took little steps to take some control of my life through my health. The small shifts were relatively easy yet significant... I didnt obsess about weight because I felt better anyhow...yet slowly dropped 1-3 pounds per month...well, after 18 months = 37 pounds gone + far healthier physical/emotional state. Yes, I know Ill have to keep working hard not to let things slide again, but isnt that part of being self-sufficient and healthy? Is personal health not part of responsible leadership?
