[Cross-posted from the FMBC website] Hey VA / NC Moonies – I need your suggestions. This New Years Im looking to take a wander down Virginia and on to Asheville. The idea is to generally follow Rt 11 / 221 through VA and then roads through Boone, etc. for NC. BRP might get some love as well (if I can stand the 45mph...). What suggestions do yall have for excellent camping and/or hiking locations? Id be looking for as far off the grid as possible and as tough a hike as possible (in a perfect world). Hit me with what ya got!
