(D) - Loki update. First off, we want to thank you so much for all the love and support. It really means the world to us both. When I got up this morning, Loki was noticeably worse. He was panting, very sluggish and had developed a strange little cough. He sat on my lap for about 45 minutes before we had to go and got lots of lubbins and combs. Sitting there, he seemed to relax and his breathing got a bit easier. I met LuAnn at the vets office and we all met with Doctor Zacharia. Loki is maintaining his weight nicely, but he could immediately hear that his chest is full again. After discussing Lokis options we left him there for the afternoon. Dr. Z will drain as much fluid as he can again and we are going to adjust his medicine to try to keep the problem at bay for as long as possible. I will pick him up on my way home from work tonight. Note: LuAnn and I are both firm believers in quality of life over length of life, both in animals and hoomins. Our biggest concern with Loki is that he is comfortable and happy. We will not take extraordinary measures to prolong one of our animals lives for our own sake if it means that they cant enjoy their remaining time. We believe that our furry family entrusts us to do what is right for them, not us, and we take that responsibility very seriously.
