(DCHL 2014 Spring Season Wrap Up) Today was the final day of the seasonal playoffs. We crowned four winners today. Keep in mind that we already crowned the REC TGIS Cup Champs last week in the Streetsharks. Congrats to X You Up for winning the X Cup (4-0 over Red Velvetx)! Congrats to The All Blacks for winning the PRO TGIS Cup over a pesky Blood Red team (3-2). Sadly, this was the last game in DCHL history for Blood Red (a former DCHL Cup PRO and TGIS Cup PRO Champ). They went out with their heads hung high. Congrats to the Greenback Boogies for winning the REC DCHL Cup (over The Untouchables, 5-2). They are a fascinating team who has gelled from a complete free agent team only three seasons back into being the best REC team. What an accomplishment! This is exactly what the REC division is all about. Take a group of individuals who did not know each other or even how to play the game, put them together, get them to learn and develop and accomplish something as a group all while making new friends and having fun. Congrats to Puck Buddies for being the first team in DCHL history to win any trophy much less the prized DCHL Cup PRO FOUR YEARS IN A ROW! Yes, it is a fourpeat. Think about how hard that is to do so in todays era. They did it by beating the Ducks, 4-2. We have had a lot of worthy champs in our DCHL history. Team GOLD owned the DCHL Cup PRO for a while. They were the best team in their era. But let there be no doubt that the Puck Buddies have clearly surpassed them and is the best team in league history. I have always been on public record to say that whether is in an NHL style rink, basketball court, 5 on 5, or 4 on 4, Puck Buddies is the best team DCHL has ever had. Now winning the PRO CUP four years in a row should put aside any arguments to the contrary. PS --- The second best team in DCHL in my opinion is actually an RHL team called the Barbarians. As most of you know Puck Buddies beat Barbarians in an exhibition game, 4-3 last week. Congrats to all the winners! Now on to the Summer Season!
