~ DO NOT TURN AWAY!!! THIS is reality. THIS is what our Warden is going to be FORCED to do soon if people dont STOP using Animal Control as a re-homing agency !! There are now 2 empty cages and there were TWO MORE owner surrenders TODAY. Look down the page and see how many are owner surrenders. Just this month. Count them. See those beautiful healthy kittens? Euthanized.....probably for room or because they were owner surrenders. (Not at our Pound but MILLIONS of animals are killed EVERY year due to pet over population caused by people not fixing their pets.) At some Animal Controls, owner surrenders are euthanized the MINUTE the owner signs them over. People have changed their minds 5 min later and gone back to get their pet and theyd already been put to sleep. Animal Control is supposed to be a HOLDING FACILITY for lost/found dogs and cats, NOT a re-homing agency. This countys residents are ABUSING its purpose. Apparently some dont want to have to make that hard decision to euthanize a sick, aggressive or unwanted pet, so they dump them at the Pound and make the Warden have to make that decision. Thats SO UNFAIR!! If youre just going to wind up dumping your pet when its inconvenient for you to keep it, then DONT GET ONE. YES, we are ANGRY!!! This nonsense needs to stop NOW!! ~
