#Dakar2015 - MOVING UPWARDS DURING STAGE 11 The 2015 Dakar Rally is in its last phase and is moving back to Argentina after visiting Chile and Bolivia. All the remaining South African riders as well as the Zambian motorcycle rider and two of the three car teams made up a few more places after yesterdays third last stage (Stage 11) . - In the QUAD category Hannes Saaijman, racing for Team Rhide SA for the plight of the rhino, posted his best result in his Dakar debut by finishing combined third for the day. This resulted in him moving deeper into the Top 10 and he is now 9th overall while he is still leading the First Timers Class. - In the motorcycle category, Albert Hintenaus (KTM) moved up two places to the 43rd place overall after finishing the stage in 41st place. It sounds like he took strain with the high altitude racing. He lost time when he stopped (four times) to lie down next to his bike to take a quick 5min nap as he struggled to breath due to the height. At least he had a good nights rest the previous night after the Marathon Stage in an old sports hall - mustve been different than sleeping in a tent for the past 10 days! - Zambias David Reeve (KTM) has the chequered flag in sight and continued his good results. He finished the stage in 33rd place and moved up two places to the 31st place overall. - CARS: Giniel de Villiers finished the stage in third place to keep his second place overall. The second Toyota Hilux pair of Leeroy Poulter and Rob Howie started the stage ahead of De Villiers/Von Zitzewitz as they finished the previous stage ahead of them. Under team orders they waited for the teams NR 1 car to pass and eventually settled for 16th place overall. They moved up to 17th place overall. The light-blue Nissan Navara of Johan van Staden and Mike Lawrenson are also on their way to a finish after their second Dakar attempt. The finished the stage in a well deserved 29th place and is now 31st overall. Still going : 79 bikes (164 starters) 18 quads (45 starters) 68 cars (138 starters) 43 trucks (64 starters) TODAY : Stage 12 - The Dakar will spend the night near the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit, which regularly hosts the Argentine rounds of the GP and WTCC motorbike championships. But the Dakars competitors are set for a long cross-country journey, battling it out in this tension-packed penultimate day. A combative driver could still shake up the leaders positions even at this stage. And drivers who become too distracted could be caught by surprise by the surrounding vegetation! Connection: 248km / Stage: 298km / Connection: 478km - TOTAL: 1024km
