(Daniel) The South Coast Herald reported this morning that the Hibiscus Coast Municipality is 5 months in arrears with their monthly payment to the Kwazulu Natal Sharks Board for the maintenance of the shark nets along the South coast of KZN. As a result the KZN Sharks Board removed the nets. DA Councillor, Dave Watson, expressed his dismay at this decision by the Sharks Board. But councillor, even a DA Municipality is expected to pay for the services it needs – in particular in an area such as yours where the safety of holiday makers is your responsibility. Did you expect the Board to keep on maintaining and maintaining at their own expense while the Council does not keep their part of the deal. I cannot help to imagine the possible consequences of such an oversight by the Municipality. I mean, we know how Natal beaches look around Christmas en New Year, don’t we?
