“Dark Sunglasses” a derisive little sneer of a song, the up-tempo power punk verve barely obscuring a sort of contempt for everyday domestication and fallen high-life refugees, the titular dark sunglasses proving an empty symbol of glamour and cool. The video, on the other hand, finds director Steve Glashier, according to the music website StereoGum, rolling “through Austin documenting everyday people rocking dark specs.” The song snaps its teeth at the superficial, and the video celebrates the authentic, and the combination is terribly endearing.
