#Day41: So I decided to wake up with Fred Hammond today. Im crazy about his music with Pages Of Life still being my favorite. But today I listened to Love Unstoppable and Speak Those Things. I was screaming my lungs out to the songs and as I stepped out of the shower I stood in front of the mirror and had an impromptu aerobics/dance session to Happy on repeat. But one song that grabbed my attention in its first line was You Are My Daily Bread I started asking myself what that meant. When you say He is your daily bread, what do you mean? When in the Lords Prayer you say, give us this day our daily bread, what are you saying? Back in the day, there were no bakeries, meaning one had to bake their own bread. Not only was it cheaper, accessible and fresh daily but you had to use ingredients according to your households specific needs for your nutrition and wellbeing but it took some time to prepare. What was Jesus saying then? Why did he liken himself to bread? In my little mind Im thinking maybe he was saying he is easy, accessible, fresh daily, specified for your particular needs, nutrition and wellbeing provided you make time. Anyway, back to the bread...back then it was a norm to bake in your house but when we evolved we started not having time meaning we had to buy bread. These days the price of bread is so high that it has moved from being a basic necessity to a luxury. We have forgotten how easily accessible God is and that the ingredients are within us, all we need to is tap in. So some clever businessman opened up a bakery which was meant for your convenience on days when you cant bake but he went and convinced you that your bread was not good enough for consumption. Now you dont bake and you prefer to buy a not so basic, not so easily accessible, a bit stale, with generic ingredients made for mass consumption at a very high price. At the moment we are running around helter-skelter to all the different bakeries that have mushroomed on every corner, looking for bread specified for us- forgetting that we have the ingredients in our homes (within us). Then my question is: how much are you paying for your daily bread? Maybe you should go home, find those ingredients, make time and start baking...? Yes? No? Ok... *looks for Gregory Porter* #100HappyDays
