Dear Jerry, A few weeks ago, for Women’s Equality Day, we - TopicsExpress

Dear Jerry, A few weeks ago, for Women’s Equality Day, we were inspired by the outpouring of public support for the #WEmatter campaign. In total, the National Partnership and a broad coalition of partner organizations, activists and allies on Capitol Hill (including President Obama) sent more than 30,000 tweets using the #WEmatter hashtag and reached tens of millions of people on Twitter! Now we need to take the next step. Urge your senators to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act tomorrow and show us that #WEmatter. The Paycheck Fairness Act is critical to closing the pervasive and harmful gender-based wage gap that still punishes women and their families in the United States. It would prohibit employers from retaliating against workers who discuss wages with colleagues, and make it harder for employers to discriminate. The Paycheck Fairness Act would also create a negotiation skills training program for women and girls, provide assistance with equal pay practices to businesses, and enhance the ability of the Department of Labor and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to investigate and enforce pay discrimination laws. It’s time for our elected leaders to show their support for fair pay by passing the Paycheck Fairness Act. It’s time for the Senate to show us that #WEmatter. Thank you for all you do!
