*Defining Success* Success as most people understand is defined and measured by the amount of accumulated money, cars, clothes, homes, materials and careers. On top of all that having a reputable standing with others of the same status. On top of that fame and popularity are as icing on a cake. People persistently press in to achieve, enduring countless hours of sacrifice in study, some taking great financial risks and investing thier money to make money. Entrepernuers and professionals is the level that these people attain to. A great sense of achievement and a boost in thier confidence is seen on thier countenance. It is to thier advantage to have sacrificed thier time and effort. They have a testimony. From the bottom to the top! From rags to riches!!!! Yet thier is a dark side to all this, if not properly weighed and balanced on the scales of : 1Timothy 6:9-10. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. And as we continue to read on in the bible it also says: Luke 12:15-21. Jesus replied, Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.” Then he told them a story: “A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops. He said to himself, ‘What should I do? I don’t have room for all my crops.’ Then he said, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll have room enough to store all my wheat and other goods. And I’ll sit back and say to myself, “My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!”’ “But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’ “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.” To conclude this admonishment i want to say this: Its not evil to have money but it is evil for money to have you. You make the money but dont let the money make you. Greed and selfish ambition is the result. Money can create a false sense of well being when one is very stable and secure but truth is that if your soul is left unattended then you will be like the rich man that we read about in this message. He accumalated goods but forgot about his soul and it was required of him that same night. People kill and steal over money. War breaks out against nations over money. Divorces are most likely due to money issues, families break up over money. Money makes the world go round. But it also blinds us and keeps us so preoccupied that making time for God becomes difficult. Scriptures speak for themselves. Its Gods Truth and its written for our admonition and instructions in righteous living. Hebrews.13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” True success is being in right standing and relatioship with God cause you become a child of God and what God has prepared for us is eternal. Heck even the bible says we have mansions waiting for us in heaven!!! There is streets of gold and everything is top of the line and perfect. John 14:2-3 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. True- success is having your family united serving God. True success is being rich spiritually and doing unto others. True success is reaching out to lost souls and sharing truth so they they can be saved, it is being filled with the joy and peace of the Lord and walking in close fellowship with Him. Let us reflect and stay humble. Money comes and goes but he who does the will of God abides forever. In Jesus name.
