(Delayed post for yesterday, Day 42) Yesterday convinced me that I - TopicsExpress

(Delayed post for yesterday, Day 42) Yesterday convinced me that I would rather ride my bike for a few hours in the rain than drive 11 hours in it. We finally arrived safely at the home of Randy Cox and Jeanie Brown in Little Rock, but the rainy trip was more taxing than I had hoped it would be. The highlights of yesterday by far were the pumpkin spice pancakes with our hosts, Ed and Candy Martin, and my interview with them afterward. I learned that their son, Tom, had a signature smile and that he was very good at getting people onboard with his ideas. 1LT Thomas M. Martin, USA, was widely recognized by his friends, peers, seniors, and subordinates as a gifted leader. His personal mantra was, “Never Quit.” Tom gave his life on October 14, 2007 while serving in Iraq. He inspired countless people with his selfless and courageous service and his family now honors other young leaders with a scholarship in his name. If you ever see someone wearing a shirt with the words “Never Quit” on the front, check out the back for a folded flag and the name 1LT Tom Martin. If you find that, ask the person wearing it how they’re Keeping TIME (Keeping Tom In Mind Everywhere -- check out the website for more info!). Saying goodbye to Candy and Ed was this morning, but we left San Antonio feeling thankful for our visit and blessed by their story. tommartinfoundation.org
