#Detroit (Wayne Co) is very high on the list...but, -The article fails to add in the metro influence and suburb influence that makes the stats go up in the Income and Life Exp brackets. If you subtracted those areas, Detroit would be the hardest place to live in the US. -The article also fails to see that some of Oakland co is terrible, but Oakland also is home to very rich suburbs north of 10mile. This makes it look better than it is. -The positive is that the surrounding areas of Detroit are doing better than 5 years ago, but thats not saying much. And this fails to account for the fact that homeowners are leaving detroit and being replaced by renters. Freep just did an article on this awhile ago and its astounding. -The article also fails to add into account how many people own a house in Detroit but dont live there and rather rent it out. This makes the income bracket look higher, but in truth its a renter living on minimum wage barely surviving and not a 50K income. -It is no surprise to us that again an article talking about Detroit doesnt even mention westside or brightmoore or livernois/joy or highland park. These areas still look like a bomb went off. -Just a thought...we are spending trillions on wars around the globe, but our own brothers and sisters are living in third world poverty in our own backyard. -Pray for Detroit. Help someone in Detroit. nytimes/2014/06/26/upshot/where-are-the-hardest-places-to-live-in-the-us.html?abt=0002&abg=0&_r=1
