If we keep fresh in our mind that every argument, disagreement or dispute serves a purpose in this relationship we will trust the process. The phrase is metaphorical and relates to the fact that naturally occurring diamonds are quite ordinary at first glance, and that their true beauty as jewels is only realized through the cutting and polishing process. We all are diamonds and show glimpses of diamond-like qualities about us... However many of us have so much extra substance that its hard to see the diamond. Many of our shine or other positive qualities are hidden by a harsh or unremarkable surface appearance. Crazy thing is we often add to the junk covering our qualities, when to us it feels like we are making the process of our diamond revealing harder than it has to be. Its important to be with someone whos willing to dig through the rough and go through the labor because they are focused on what lies within the rough... The Diamond. As a diamond you have the the opportunity to allow lifes ups and downs to chip away at your rough edges. God also places certain people in our life that love us through our coal stages and our flaws wanting to see the diamond come out. Your pride and your inability to trust cant be so large you never allow others to cut or polish the rough edges in your life.
