-Disaster Assistance Mission-Typhoon Ruby kills 21 in Eastern Samar- 16 of those deaths were reported to be in the town of Borongan which is where our Bible Study Center is located also where we just started new congregation. I still have not heard form Edwin but I am hoping it is because the power lines and Cell towers are down. Hopefully he is handing out the many packs of rice, instant noodles, sardines & biscuits that we purchased and repacked two days before he storm. Also while in my hospital bed at the emergency room(kidney stone) I managed to have purchased two truck loads of supplies from other areas that was not affected as much. Michael Stock and his wife(Preacher at Missionary, Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines,) Has arranged to use his truck and borrow another one to bring the supplies to Edwin in Borongan. One truck is nothing but rice 20 sacks 110 lbs each, yes that is a little over a ton of rice. The other truck has food, hammers, hand saws and 2 cases of bibles. Michael and Deborah are on their way right now and will help Edwins team there repack and hand out to those in need. Also we have local Filipino preachers Allan Gesulga from Mindanao and Roger & Jonah Nonog from Luzon are on their way and have a few more bibles and some medical supplies with them. These 3 will join our team and help with repacking food, handing out food and supplies as well as outreach and in home bible studies. As you can see from the above we are there as not only 1st responders but also for the long term follow up. The Island of Samar which was the hardest hit is where we have the 6 congregations and the bible study center that we are helping Edwin with.
