#DomesticViolence #dv Spartanburg, SC- Bruce Allan Cook, 46, of Inman pleaded no contest Thursday to criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature. Cook, who has a history of convictions for criminal domestic violence, received a 5-year sentence, but he is expected to serve two years and three years of probation if he fully complies with a judges orders. Seventh Circuit Assistant Solicitor Alexandria Lyles told Circuit Judge Roger Couch that Cook grabbed a shotgun, pointed at his then live-in girlfriend and threatened to kill her on April 7, 2013. The incident occurred about 2 a.m. at their home on Split Oak Lane. Spartanburg County Public Defender Mary Dassel asked Couch for the minimum mandatory sentence of one year. Dassel said during the 285 days he has served in jail, Cook has completed programs, including batterers treatment and job training. Cook told Couch he was sorry to the court and community, and he wished the best for the victim. She was not in court for the plea hearing.
