“E.M. Bounds once said, ‘When faith ceases to pray, it ceases to live.’ It may be also said that if faith ceases to live, it ceases to pray. Faith MUST pray in order to live; faith must live in order to pray.” – Leonard Ravenhill The great dearth of today’s local New Testament church is prayer. We find every excuse not to go to the prayer meeting. Whether it’s a half an hour before a service we are already attending or on a night with enough notice to plan to attend, we excuse away with things and activity that fills the time but not our cup. Where are the pews filled with weeping saints desiring more than life itself the Power that lets a dying world know that God truly lives?! We weep, but not for power, we pine more for selfish desires than clinging to the One who supplies all our riches in Christ Jesus. The faith that we need goes un-exercised while we complain to God of our trials, troubles, temptations and tales of woe. It dies in the dank, dark corners of a life sucked dry by the enemy. If our energy was truly spent searching the scriptures of the promised provision, the plentiful power, the prominent protection and Light to see the prepared plan for our lives, we could truly rest in the peace that can only come by faith through any and all storms that come our way. Oh that our faith would awaken to the true riches, the mighty power and the wondrous love found only in our Lord and Savior! To witness a miracle, moreover BE a miracle in someone’s life… We would cease to gather to our senses the world’s cotton candy that tastes sweet but has nothing nutritious to nourish your soul! Faith, our faith, comes alive when we experience the presence of God, when we serve others, and witness the miraculous power that can only come from God! Oh dear child of God… Take that life you thought would render praise from God for surviving the cares of the life you lead and gather it into a funeral pyre and set a match to the life we thought would please Him and beg for Him to live THROUGH us and witness His all-powerful, ever-present, and all-knowing residence in you! Seek only His will and rest in the faith that He will answer just as He promised!
