(EDITORS NOTE: This letter was send by a member of LAD who wishes to remain anonymous to prevent retaliation.) To all LAD members! As you know that LAD Board are our role models representing for the state of Louisiana’s Deaf Community. When Walker was ousted for some objectives that the board disagreed with his role as a President. This was really an absurd decision they made that created another one because of the vice president serving LAD decided that the President of LAD needed to resign due to personal conflicts and not abiding by the bylaws. The Vice President DID NOT follow the BYLAWS! That’s absolutely ashamed! Let’s go back to when they ousted Walker, the other officers were no better. The Treasurer wrote several checks on his own when the bylaws stated that he must have two signatures. Also, the secretary did a very bad job on the minutes so she was no better either! The President of LAD didnt do her job to represent the community. She was taking advantage of the per Diem and traveling expenses to attend leadership training. What a waste of money LAD put into spending on the officers’ luxuries when they should be donating to the Deaf community. The Vice President did not follow her job, as she did not send the bylaws 30 days prior to the conference. Why werent they terminated from their jobs? So you see they all did not do their jobs and they still think they did the right thing to terminate the President. They abused the bylaws and that’s enough! Now the Vice President is abusing the bylaws again! She was a member at large in the last 2 years who agreed to oust the President then became the Vice President of LAD. Along that she also has other officer positions such as Vice President of LAAD, Secretary of DTO, Treasurer of AAD and possible other officer roles that I am not aware of. My point is how does she have time to do all the work when LAD is a statewide organization to serve all of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing people in Louisiana. This just doesn’t make sense to serve all of the duties when the priorities are not there to make a decision. What happens if LAAD has a meeting at the same time as LAD? What if LAD needs to focus on getting some bills passed at the legislature, how can she find time to do that? LAD has bylaws that need to be strictly followed whether they like it or not. The officers in the past have abused the bylaws by not following the bylaws that were made by the members. Many of us do not know what goes inside of LAD office. There have been many mislead information. This has to stop listening to HEARSAY and gather your evidence with the whole truth. Just like the Treasurer of LAD was not telling the whole truth. He has signed checks on his own when he should have two signatures. He has allowed the past officers sign checks without him being there. He is no better either! Kenny knew this bill has to be paid but he procrastinated on paying the bills just like any other bills LAD has indebted for. Members please look into the whole situation and ask what was the reason behind the facts. Ask for evidence and get the facts straight. Do not listen to hearsay when they are opinions and not facts! In my opinion, if the LAD board can’t work together as a team then the board must resign on his/her own unless they didn’t follow the bylaws accordingly. Let’s make LAD a better organization!!!!
