>>>>>>>ENCOUNTER TUESDAY SERVICE UPDATES>>>>>>>> Scripture: Exodus 3:1-8 Message: THE ENCOUNTER When Moses ran out of Egypt, he went to Midian and there he stayed with Jethro tending to Jethro’s sheep. As he was taking care of the sheep, Moses decided to go to the back side of the desert and came to the mountain of God; mount Horeb. As a result of being at the mountain of the Lord, Moses met with the Angel of the Lord which means that where Moses decides to keep his flock can determine when he will meet with the Lord. Sheep is what Moses held dearly and was ready to die for and the day he decides to take what he would die for to the mountain of the Lord, he met with Him. It does not mean that Moses was not experiencing the miracles of God, but he had not met with God. Moses entire life was a life of miracles because from the day he was born, he was sustained by God when others died, and he was kept by Pharaoh’s daughter though he was not born of her. There are people who are experiencing the miracles of God yet have never encountered God. Miracles get you excited and give you faith and faith, but an encounter changes who you are. Moses was enjoying miracles because of God’s grace, meaning that there are people who have been experiencing miracles by God’s grace not because of anything they did. The path of an encounter requires you to work and prepare but in miracles you are pampered. The path of an encounter led Moses to the desert, this was not by mistake because Jesus Himself was led to the desert by the Holy Ghost. Moses met God at the back of the desert not at the door (opening) meaning Moses had walked the whole desert, a desert speaks of hard times and it was in this place where Moses encountered God. God can maintain you but not encounter you when you are at the door of the desert. When the going gets tough know that an encounter is coming. It is when Jesus is about to die that he becomes transfigured and meets with Moses and Elijah; the prophets of God. Jesus encountered God through His prophets and God spoke to Peter and said “this is my Son…” the path to knowing God’s encounter usually comes when temptation enters. It was when Moses entered into God’s location that God appeared to Him. If you are struggling to encounter God, it means you are not yet in His zone because in His zone; He appears. Moses entered God’s mountain focused on his sheep and when God appeared, he turned aside. This is the challenge with church folks, they come to church focused on their sheep and hence cannot hear God. There are people who need to turn aside from their sheep so God can speak to them. The first level of encounter is experienced by entering God’s presence and the second is turning aside; in this level, you begin to hear and see from God.
