:::EVOLUTION FIT TIP::: RUN YOUR HEART OUT! If you are just starting out on your fitness goals, one of the most common mistakes I see people make, is when they do their cardio they start training like they were back living their high school glory days. Jump on the treadmill and start out in a full out sprint to get that mile under 5 min. Sure you may be able to do it, but this is why you should be consider slowing down. Its obvious your body isnt the same body you had in the high school. You have aches and pains, more fat on your body, and a lot more out of shape. YOUR BODY HAS EVOLVED! Ask your self if you continue to go all out every day... ...How long could you realistically keep it up? The percentage of people who could actually do that is very small. Not only that but you are more prone to: *Injuries, due to muscle imbalances in you body. *Fatigue or over training, due to lack of nutrition. *More likely to hit a plateau. You have a resting heart rate. This heart rate can change depending on how out of shape or in shape you are. If you havent done any cardio consistently in years, then you can count on a high resting heart rate. This means your heart has to work harder in order to keep blood pumping through out your body. Putting more stress on it and over working it could be dangerous. Laying passed out and on the verge of a heart attack isnt about being tough, it has now become more unwise of a choice. If you are just starting up your cardio program, the best thing for you to do is to smart at a lower time and work your way up. I usually suggest 20 mins finding a speed you can maintain for the full 20 min, no stopping or slowing down. If you have to do either of those things its too fast. Each week increase the time or increase resistance, speed, or incline. Either of these adjustments each week progress your cardio program, which will help get you results. Be patient and stop trying to out run the good looking guy/girl next to you, its not a race and just start from where you are! Building a strong base is crucial for a long term cardio workout program. If you would like help building a cardio workout program, lets talk!
