El Shaddai is one of the many names for God. The King James - TopicsExpress

El Shaddai is one of the many names for God. The King James Version of the Bible mostly translates El Shaddai as “Almighty ,” but that doesn’t give the full picture. Wilson’s Old Testament Word Studies has the following to say: “Many ancient and modern critics have derived it from sufficiency and the prefix, who is, denoting his infinite sufficiency for himself and all other beings…. Others [say El Shaddai is derived] from a breast, implying the All-bountiful Being.” E.W. Bullinger is one of the most renowned Bible scholars. In the appendix of his of his Companion Bible he has this to say about El Shaddai: “El is the God Who knows all and sees all and that performeth all things for His people. It is God (El), not as the source of strength, but of grace; not as Creator, but as the Giver. Shaddai is the All -bountiful. This title does not refer to His creative power, but to His power to supply all the needs of His people.” So El Shaddai is the all-bountiful giver. As the Apostle Paul puts it, “exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Eph 3:20). A song I would sing to my kids.
