“Entertainment Weekly” (July 5 – 12, 2013) has published lists of the all-time “100 Greatest” for moves, TV shows, musical albums and books. The best novel of all time, according to EW, is Leo Tolstoy’s “Anna Karenina.” Below are the science fiction, fantasy and horror novels included in the “Greatest” list: 7 The “Harry Potter” series 17 “The Road,” by Cormac McCarthy 27 “A Wrinkle in Time,” by Madeleine L’Engle 29 “The Handmaid’s Tale,” by Margaret Atwood 42 “The Stand,” by Stephen King 44 “His Dark Materials,” by Phillip Pullman 49 “Ender’s Game,” by Orson Scott Card 57 “The Children of Men,” by P.D. And I also think it demonstrates something about the quality of the whole list. But I could have made the same point just by saying: “’Entertainment Weekly’ came up with this list.”
