~~~Evening Update~~~ Clouds will thicken up across the region this evening with snow to develop across northern Maine by around midnight. Across Central Maine there will likely be a mix of snow and rain, with any snow to changeover to rain early Sunday morning. For Down East areas this will be a rain event. The precipitation will end rapidly from west to east Sunday morning. Snow accumulation of an inch or two is expected, mainly north of the Katahdin Region. Sunday will be another mild day with clouds giving way to some sunshine Down East. Across far northern Maine it will likely remain cloudy much, if not all of the day. Temperatures will be mild for late December with highs well into the 30s across the Crown of Maine, with low to mid 40s Down East. A west wind will gust to around 25 mph at times from late morning on.
