~~~Evening Weather Update~~~ * Dry and seasonably cold tonight with lows from 10 below to zero across the Crown of Maine, single digits Down East, with teens along the immediate shoreline. Partly sunny Thursday with highs near 20 across far northern Maine to the mid/upper 20s Down East. * There will be the chance of a little light snow Friday afternoon into Friday night across northern Maine, but any accumulations are expected to be minor. Temperatures Friday will remain seasonably cold. * Attention turns to a weekend Noreaster. Our forecast confidence is very high that a strong storm will develop off the New England Coast Saturday. Confidence is not high on the exact track of the storm. Some of our longer range computer models just bring a glancing blow to Washington County. There are some models that are much closer to the coast and would bring a plowable snowfall to much of the Down East region and even into far northeast Maine. It is too soon to pin down any numbers as amounts could range from little/no snow if the storm stays offshore, to possibly 6 to 12 inches of snow if the storm is closer to the coast. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts as we get closer to the weekend at weather.gov/car If the storm does track closer to the coast, the time period of concern for the heaviest snowfall would be Sat night into early Sun morning.
