They represent some of the most economically and socially dynamic economies in the world. Their increasing cooperation across a range of trade, economic and political domains since APEC’s inception in 1989, has been an important source helping support development, economic growth, and enhancing the capacity of member economies in areas as diverse as food and energy security, the management of climate change, people trafficking, data privacy, cross border crime, and inclusive growth through support for small and medium size enterprise and on-going structural and economic reform. This Roundtable brings together a series of leading international experts working in the fields of political economy, social policy and international relations to critically examine the major challenges and opportunities facing APEC economies, strategies for enhanced trade, economic, political and social engagement, as well as the major obstacles APEC faces in terms of the rapidly changing economic and political relations among member economies.
