If I ever win an award—any award!—Ill be very grateful for the readers, because every last one is different, and all hold a viable opinion of what merits their accolades, and no two will ever completely agree. Awards, however contentious, are a consensus of acknowledgment, and should be treasured as the brief moment when a small portion of our universe came together with enough bridge-building to say, You did something well, however flawed it (or we) may be, and we approve.
