Picture courtesy - FFSL Media Unit St Peters College, Colombo sent Hameed Al Husseini College out of the tournament when they defeated the latter by 3-0 at City Football Complex on Thursday in the third quarterfinal of the Kothmale Chox Under 19 Schools Football Tournament 2014. Peters took the lead in the 34th minutes when Isuru Sampath netted their first goal. Since then it was a tough battle as Al Husseinians desperately looking for an equalizer. In the 78th minutes Peshala Rajakaruna scored the second goal for Peters and in the added sixth minutes another goal to make it a 3-0 victory for his team. The last quarterfinal worked off on the same day at Maris Stella Ground in Negombo. Zahira College, Colombo secured their birth in the semi final by defeating Joseph Vaz college, Wennappuwa by 1-0. It was a tight game even after the half time with no goals on the score board. In the 78th minutes A Shakir scored the winning goal for Zahira On Wednesday ,De Mezenod College, Kandana defeated Royal College Colombo by 4-1 at City Football Complex in the second quarter and qualified for the semi finals.It was a tied game until Mezinodian Ranju Silva found the net in the 65th minutes that gave them the lead. Earlier Naveen Jude of Royal College score the first goal of the match in the 11th minutes. P F Gunasekara in the 27th minutes scored the equalizer for Royal. But Ranju with his hat trick ( 65, 92, 93 minutes ) secured their birth in the semi final. Early on July 17 Maris Stella College defeated St Benedicts College, Kandana by 3-0 and got through to the semi finals first. De Mezenod College will meet St Peters College in the first semi final while in the other semi final Zahira College will vie against Maris Stella College.
