===FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE FIGHTING IN ISLAM IS ALLOWED ONLY WHEN YOU ARE ATTACKED...(REALLY?)== I heard from many Muslims lately that you cant wage Jihad (fighting in war) except when you are attacked. I am embarrassed even to think that some Muslims may think this way! First of all, this is completely unscriptural belief and second, it is against the main spirit and purpose of Islam, which came to free the oppressed and to establish one true religion/social system on the whole earth. So, what kind of egotistic belief is that?..We can lean back and enjoy life while millions of others, Muslims and non-Muslims likely, are killed, tortured, displaced and enslaved? What kind of Islam is this?.. As long as they dont touch me, I dont care??...wow! Shame on you, who think this way, and again, shame on you! See what God is telling us again: “And what is wrong with you that you fight not in the Cause of Allah, and for those weak, ill-treated and oppressed among men, women, and children, whose cry is: Our Lord! Rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from You one who will protect, and raise for us from You one who will help.” [Soorah an-Nisaa4:75] God directly tells Muslim in Quran that fighting is one of important virtues among others: (2:216) - Fighting has been PRESCRIBED FOR YOU while it is hateful to you. But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not. (Just like it orders to fast - Fasting is prescribed for you or pray: Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times.) ALSO, PURPOSE OF WAR/FIGHTING IS NOT SELF PROTECTION AS DEVIANT PEOPLE TEACH, BUT FOR: THE FOLLOWING REASONS WHICH BREAKDOWN IS GIVEN BELOW: 1) TO ERADICATE FITNA ON EARTH 2) PROTECT INNOCENTS AND OPPRESSED 3) TO ESTABLISH ISLAM ALL OVER THE EARTH 4) ERADICATE (OR SUBDUE) THOSE WHO DONT BELIEVE ON GOD AND THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT, NOR HOLD FORBIDDEN WHAT GOD HAS FORBIDDEN, NOR ACKNOWLEDGE ISLAM ==LETS LOOK AT QURANIC VERSES FOR PROOF: --And FIGHT(to KILL - Qatilu) them until there is NO FITNA (oppression, temptation, treachery, dissension) and [until] the religion, ENTIRELY, is for Allah alone. [8:39] ...and fitnah (oppression, temptation, treachery, dissention) is WORSE than killing. [2:191] --“And what is wrong with you that you fight not in the Cause of Allah, and for those weak, ill-treated and oppressed among men, women, and children, whose cry is: Our Lord! Rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from You one who will protect, and raise for us from You one who will help.” [Soorah an-Nisaa4:75] --Fight those WHO BELIEVE NOT IN ALLAH nor the LAST DAY, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, NOR ACKNOWLEDGE the religion of Truth,(even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.(9:29) -- And let not those who disbelieve suppose that they can outstrip (Allahs Purpose). Lo! they cannot escape. Make ready for them all thou canst of (armed) force and of horses tethered, that thereby ye may dismay the enemy of Allah and your enemy.(8:59-60) ==FIGHTING ALLOWED AND PRESCRIBED FOR 3 MORE REASONS - A) BREAKING OATHS AND/OR, B) DEFAMING RELIGION, C) FOR SUPPORTING THOSE WHO WERE DOING THAT: --And if they break their oaths after their treaty and DEFAME YOUR RELIGION, then FIGHT the leaders of disbelief, for indeed, there are no oaths [sacred by or to be kept] to them; [fight them that] they might cease. -...Excepted are those with whom you made a treaty among the polytheists and then they have not been DEFICIENT toward you in anything or SUPPORTED ANYONE against you; so complete for them their treaty until their term [has ended]. Indeed, Allah loves the righteous [who fear Him].[9:4] ==FIGHTING ALSO PRESCRIBED AGAINST THOSE WHO: A) WAGE WAR AGAINST ALLAH AND HIS MESSENGER, B) SPREAD CORRUPTION UPON EARTH and C) ARE IDOLATERS: --Indeed, the penalty for those who: 1)wage war against Allah and His Messenger and 2)strive upon earth [to cause] CORRUPTION (alFasada) is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment. [5:33] --So when the sacred months have passed away, then SLAY the IDOLATERS wherever you find them, and take them captive and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them.(9:5) ===TILL WHEN JIHAD IS TO BE FOUGHT? Fight them UNTIL there is NO [more] FITNA (oppression, temptation, treachery, dissension) and [until] worship is [acknowledged to be entirely] for Allah (alone). But if they cease, then there is to be no aggression except against the oppressors. [2:193] ==JIHAD IS ALSO A PUNISHMENT OF DISBELIEVERS BY THE HANDS OF MUSLIMS: Fight them; Allah will punish them BY YOUR HANDS and will disgrace them and give you victory over them and satisfy the breasts of a believing people. [9:12-14] ==THOSE WHO FIGHT IN JIHAD ARE MORE PREFERRED BY GOD THAN THOSE WHO DONT: --Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward.(4:95) ==GOD SENDS FEAR INTO THE HEARTS OF DISBELIEVERS AND USES MUSLIMS TO ERADICATE THEM: I (God) will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.(8:12) ==IN SUCH FIGHT IT IS NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO TAKE CAPTIVES UNTIL ENEMY IS TOTALLY DESTROYED: (8:67)- It is not for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war until he had made a great slaughter in the land... ==FIGHTING IN GENERAL IS PRESCRIBED FOR ALL MUSLIMS: --Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward.Quran (4:74) --Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah.Quran (4:76) ==ADDITIONAL VERSES THAT SHOW THAT FIGHTING WAS NOT ONLY IN SELF DEFENSE: Quran (9:41) - Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your wealth and YOUR LIVES in the way of Allah! That is best for you if ye but knew. If there had been immediate gain (in sight), and the journey easy, they would (all) without doubt have followed thee, but the distance was long, (and weighed) on them.(9:42) --[This contradicts the myth that Muslims are to fight only in self-defense, since the wording implies that battle will be waged a long distance from home (in another country and on disbelievers soil.] ==There is no blame for the blind, nor is there blame for the lame, nor is there blame for the sick (that they go not forth to war). And whoso obeyeth Allah and His messenger, He will make him enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow; and whoso turneth back, him will He punish with a painful doom. (48:17) [Contemporary apologists sometimes claim that Jihad means spiritual struggle. If so, then why are the blind, lame and sick exempted? This verse also says that those who do not fight will suffer torment in hell.] ==BELIEVERS (MUSLIMS) LOVE TO FIGHT AND LAY THEIR LIVES FOR GODS PURPOSE: Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): THEY FIGHT IN HIS CAUSE, THEY KILL AND GET KILLED, a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Quran: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.(9:111)
