***FREE app of the day*** (2.99-->Free) Hairy Phonics 1 is a wonderful app to introduce your child to blending sounds of phonics. The app works through step by step on completing blending sounds and is only able to unlock each blend as they complete a previous one. The app begins with the sh blend and children are show an animation of a word beginning with the sh blend. They are then required to trace the letters of the blend reinforcing their learning. Once they have completed this they are taken back to the letters screen were they can tap on Hairy and play a little game. This game includes having to spell words after the letters are muddled. Children are first shown the word and it is verbally spoken as well. Once they correctly spell these the word is reinforced with a visual of the word being spelt. Once they complete all 4 spellings the app unlocks the next blend. This is a fabulous app for working on phonics, blends, spelling, fine motor skills, vocabulary building, learning sight words and many other things.
