...FROM THE DPW DPT: With the leaves finally falling from the trees the DPW started our fall leaf clean-up program at the south end of the City last week. As a reminder this work is not done as a service but rather as a necessity to prevent catch basins from clogging during the winter months. We ask that residents, please, help keep our storm sewers working properly by cleaning the street in front of their home and not raking leaves into the street. Last year during the fall of 2013 the DPW was only able to clean-up leaves from Nov 20th to Dec 6th before the winter started. This stopped our clean-up efforts at approximately 11 Mile Road and we had to continue working north in the spring. Normally the DPW is able to clean-up leaves until the Christmas holiday and are able to finish the City. With snow already falling this morning we do not expect to get much further than we did last year. Therefore again we ask that residents help keep our streets from flooding during rains and snow melts by cleaning the curb in front of their home and not raking leaves in to the streets. Thanks from the DPW for giving us a hand during these early winter weather years! Reminder - Curbside yard waste collection will continue through December 12th.
