(FYI, This is from the Department Co-Chair of Chemistry & Physics @ CSU) Dear Colleagues, Chicago State Universitys Chemistry and Physics Department just received a new NSF Grant: Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S-STEM.) The grant provides funding to support *new* CSU students (transfer or freshman) majoring in Chemistry or Physics. (Options in these majors are: Straight Chem/Phys, Biochemistry, Physics for Bioscience, Engineering Physics, and Chem/Phys for Secondary Teaching.) The program provides student tuition support up to $8000, a funded summer STEM program and retreat, early student research experiences, and formalized mentoring to highly qualified students who intend to pursue their undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Physics at Chicago State. If you know of students who you think might do well at Chicago State and benefit from a small department with lots of one on one individualized mentoring and are thinking about one of these options in Chemistry or Physics please encourage them to apply to the S-STEM Program. The deadline for applications is July 28th. This is the first year of a four year grant so we will be accepting applications next year as well. The website for the program is at: msscsu.wix/csu-sstem The application is online at: https://surveymonkey/s/SSTEMApp2014 If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Kristy Mardis (Director) or myself Mel Sabella, (Co-director).
