|Faculty News| Congratulations to Dr. Cristal C. Truscott who was announced as a 2014 Doris Duke Impact Award recipient. Truscott, who currently serves as the Interim Department Head of Music & Theatre, is being recognized for innovating a new theatre aesthetic of acapella musical called Neo-Spirituals (Negro Spirituals + Neo-Soul) and an artist/acting training methodology developed from African American and African Diasporic performance traditions called Soulwork. The Doris Duke Impact Awards are designed to support and make a strong statement about the power these artists will have in shaping and fueling the next great creative movements in the fields of contemporary dance, jazz, theatre and related multidisciplinary work.
