#FarHaan Shopian:Unidentified gunmen kill ex-Hizb militant ......... Family says was not associated with any outfit since 2009 Shopian, Sep 15: Family of a former militant, who was killed by unidentified gunmen on Saturday evening at his residence in Chaki-Jamnagri village here, Sunday said he was not affiliated to any organization after 2009. “Since his release from jail in 2009 he was engrossed in his work and had no affiliation with anybody or any political or militant organization,” said his cousin, Ashiq Mir. Shabir Ahmad Mir, a released-militant of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit, was killed on Saturday late evening when unidentified gunmen barged into his house in Jamnagri village of Shopian district and shot at him. He was rushed to a hospital, but succumbed to his injuries on the way. No militant outfit claimed responsibility for the attack. Shabir, according to his family members, had joined Hizb some 13 years back when he was studying in 9th standard. “He was arrested in 2005 and bailed out in 2009,” said Ashiq. He said Shabir was working in his farm and used to take care of the small piece of agricultural land the family owns. “He married two years back and left everything behind and turned into a complete family man,” Ashiq said, “He was blessed with a baby boy a year back and had named him Moomin.” Shabir’s elder brother Farooq Ahmad, a labourer, said after his release from jail, he had been taking care of his family. He is survived by four elder brothers and aged parents, “He was the youngest among us and a down to earth person,” said Sabzar.............................
