Fed up with Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC). On Friday, I had a meeting with a junior level bureaucrat from AANDC regarding the application of membership policies at my First Nation -- all I heard was I cant, I cant, I cant. As a solution oriented person, this drove me nuts to no end. I want to hear lets find a way... completely opposite of what I heard. Today, a middle manager at AANDC denied funding to my community... all the while, another junior level bureaucrat told me do this, do that, dot this, cross that -- all of which I did. Anyone who wishes to question my administrative skill is certainly welcome to do so, but I will gladly jump through hoops and do cartwheels to ensure my First Nation receives the resources it should rightly get. But after today, I think Ive found my new lifes mission -- we need to get rid of the Indian Act, and the inherently racist organization that is the Department of AANDC. Its time to start treating First Nations as the Nations we are, and get rid of the father may I mentality. If were to be true partners, lets do this right. Stop treating First Nations as wards of the state. More to follow. #PissedOff
