*Felony Arrest* On February 2, 2014 at about 1:25 AM, the City of Oneonta Police Department arrested Christopher B. Collins, 18 years of age from Riverhead, NY for the felonies of: • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree (Class C Felony) • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th degree (Class E Felony) and the violation of: • Possession of Marihuana. The suspect was stopped for operating a motor vehicle the wrong way on a one-way street on Chestnut Street Extension and during the course of the traffic stop, a loaded 9mm handgun was discovered in plain sight in the vehicle. The ensuing investigation determined that the suspect did not possess a permit for a handgun and the gun itself was stolen. Pursuant to the investigation, a small quantity of marijuana was also discovered in the vehicle. Christopher B. Collins was arraigned in Oneonta City Court and sent to the Otsego County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond to appear at a later date. If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum sentence of 19 years incarceration for all charges. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
