#Firefighter-Entry Level - Greenwich, Connecticut Closing Date: 7/25/2013 Description Performs day-to-day activities and duties of a firefighter in accordance with current State Statutes and local ordinances, rules, regulations, under the supervision of the Fire Chief or his/her designee. Requirements 1. Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen at the time of application. 2. Candidate must be 18 years of age at time of application. 3. Candidate must possess a High School Diploma or State approved G.E.D. 4. Candidate must pass a valid written examination. Candidate must submit CPAT certification issued during 2013 or submit their registration form for the Fall 2013 CPAT test to the Town of Greenwich Human Resources Department by the close date of July 25, 2013 in order to sit for the written examination. 5. Candidate must pass a valid oral examination.Candidate must have valid CPAT certification issued during 2013 to be invited to participate in the oral examination. 6. Candidate must pass a criminal record search. 7. Candidate must pass a background investigation. 8. Candidate must pass a psychological evaluation. 9. Candidate must pass a screening for controlled substances. 10.Candidate must pass a pre-employment medical examination. 11.Candidate must possess a valid motor vehicle license at time of application and obtain a Q endorsement within 6 months from the date of hire. 12.Hazardous materials operational level training must be successfully completed during the probationary period. 13.Medical response technician certification is required during the probationary period and must be maintained. 14.Employees hired shall be and remain non-smokers, non-nicotine users as a condition of continued employment. 15.Candidate for firefighter shall be required to meet and maintain specific medical and physical requirements and ability standards.
