#Flash Shah calls for complete shutdown on August 15 ‘World should know we are still struggling for freedom’ Srinagar, Aug 6: (GNS) Senior pro-freedom leader and Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah has called for a complete shutdown on August 15 this month, “to send a clear message to world that Kashmiri nation is struggling for their right to freedom.” “15 August is the independence day of India not of Kashmiris, for us it is a black day as thesame day we were made slaves of India aftergetting freedom from Dogra rule,” Shah in a statement issued to GNS said. He said we have never acknowledged India’s forcible occupation nor ever will we do so. “We have sacrificed more than five lakh lives while fighting the aggressive Indian occupation and are continuing our fight against them,” Shah said, adding that we have faced innumerous hardships of arrests and continue to face even today. The Freedom Party Chairman accused India of not being sincere in its pledge kept with Kashmiris in 1947. “At the time of partition ofsubcontinent, the then Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had promised Kashmiris that they will be given the right to choose their own political future. But something wrong went with India’s intention and it subjugated Kashmiri people by the dint of force and to mislead world community, started so-called election drama with the help of some purchased agents,” he said. He said that on one hand, India continued to strengthen its forcible occupation on Kashmir, and “on the other hand, continues to stage election drama so as to mislead world community that all is well in Kashmir.” The senior pro-freedom leader has expressed deep grief over the killing of a Kashmiri Pandit Tej Krishan Talashi by some miscreants in Jammu. He said that one such innocent killing tantamount to killing of whole humanity. “The Kashmiri Pandits residing in Jammu should return back to Valley so as to keep that example of brotherhood living which is the core of our civilization,” he said while expressing sympathy and solidarity with the bereaved Pandit family.
